The world is quickly adopting generative AI and AI “art.” We at The Illustrated Invitation are committed to never using AI in our artwork or in the creation of our Invitations. We respectfully ask couples looking to work with us, or those searching for stationery refrain from uploading our images into AI engines like ChatGPT, Claude, MidJourney, ect. We also request AI imagery not be intentionally brought in for inspiration. We are actively working to add invisible digital watermarks to our online images to protect them from AI theft.

While AI tools may feel powerful, they steal from working artists. AI models have been fed artwork from hard working people which is digested and copied to create something similar but not new. AI doesn’t understand what elements make a piece of artwork unique or special; it doesn’t understand color theory or the dynamics that go into creating a visually stunning piece. It can only create what already exists. Only humans can create something new.

 AI is also draining power and clean drinking water from our communities. Data centers turn out electronic waste like Lead and Mercury that leak into our environment. As nature lovers and defenders of our environment, we cannot ethically encourage using generative AI.

Working with us means you value artwork, and you want your wedding to stand out. We work to make every piece of stationery as unique and new as possible. It may take longer than an AI prompt, but it’s worth the wait. You're also supporting a local community-minded small business.

Anyone can create at any time, you do not need AI to do it. The point of art is to continue growing, you never fully master your craft. We encourage people to get creative even if it’s uncomfortable, even if it’s not good. Creativity is a quintessential part of the human experience.
